For those of you not familiar with this man’s works, where have you been? My favorites from this author include
And the man is just a creative whirlwind. When he was 80 he said the following:
“The feeling I have every day is very much the same as it was when I was twelve. In any event, here I am, eighty years old, feeling no different, full of a great sense of joy, and glad for the long life that has been allowed me. I have good plans for the next ten or twenty years, and I hope you’ll come along.”
At the same time, he’s like the original punk, out to do his own thing and comfortable with having that outsider status.
I don’t need to be vindicated, and I don’t want attention. I never question. I never ask anyone else’s opinion. They don’t count.
Rock on Mr. Bradbury! And congratulations on you newly published book Now and Forever: Somewhere a Band is Playing & Leviathan ‘99 (July 2008).

Ray Bradbury is awesome.
There’s a really old used bookstore in my city (Long Beach, I’m in So Cal too) that they’re going to tear down to make room for some new condos (in an area already overpopulated by about a thousand of them).
He came by the bookstore to say goodbye. It was awesome, except that Long Beach didn’t even acknowledge it.
Oh Well. Thanks for the props to Ray.

I was not a reader in high school. Half way through college I was bored and entered a used book store for the first time in my life. I bought Martian Chronicles for $0.35. Now I’m a chain book reader thanks to Mr. Bradbury.
I like October Country and the Halloween Tree best.
I will definitely check out his new book.
thanks.

‘Something Wicked This Way Comes’ was my FAVORITE book when I was 14. I must have read it about 300 times. When the movie came out in 1983, directed by Jack Clayton, I was crushed. It seemed to capture none of nuances of the characters or the story. I also loved ‘Dandelion Wine’, another tribute to (his) small town life.
Thanks for taking me back! Great post. And I will also check out his new book.
